The message that made me cry…

Pitch 400x600Final

A few months ago I got a message from ‘Michael’ about Pitch. I had gotten a few before this, mostly saying they enjoyed the story. Michael’s was different, though. His letter made me proud of something I had accomplished. In all honesty, the letter made me cry (a good cry, don’t get me wrong). With his permission, I’m sharing the letter with you.

Please suspend your “royal status” as the guru of the YA gay novelists for a moment. (I say that in a complimentary way). I hope you read this as if it was your first of many words of praise. My words are genuine and are full of praise.

I’m writing to thank you for the joy I’ve had in reading your book “Pitch”. I guess you could say I’m as closeted as you can get and living in a small (and small minded) Mississippi town. Growing up as an army brat, I’ve lived in many places. Unfortunately, these moves were frequent. Stationed at one place for a year or so, and then moving on to the next. I’ve met many friends but never was able to form a bond with others that most children naturally have in their adolescent and young adult lives. ( Sounds just like Jax). As timing would have it, my high school graduation in 1985 was immediately followed by my dad’s army retirement and a final trip home the next week to Mississippi. Not the best place to come out to the world that you are gay. So I never did. I managed to have a relationship so similar to that of Taylor and Jackson in “Pitch” that I had to write to you (I know you get tired of hearing the same thing from all your fans). I was “Taylor Andrews” without exception and “Jackson Kern” was a neighborhood boy from my home town and “coincidentally” ended up as my roommate my freshman year in college. A secret love started and the rest is history. (sounds like a book to me doesn’t it?). Sadly, my “Jax” died tragically one year later from a head on collision. A driver of an 18 wheeler feel asleep at the wheel. Thankfully, he died instantly. So you can imagine how pleased I was to relive that part of my life through your great work in “Pitch”. I’m truly a new and loyal fan.

So now of course, I am anxiously awaiting to read the follow up “Wet Paint”. When will it be available and will it be available for Kindle? Is it possible to purchase and autographed copy of “Pitch”? I’m not your typical designated YA reader but I’m definitely a big fan. After reading your first book I have to keep you living in the lifestyle you’re accustomed so I can’t wait to purchased ”Wet Paint”. I fell in love with Jax, Taylor and Benny. I didn’t want Jax and Taylor’s love to EVER end. However, I was in love with Benny so much I wanted Taylor to have an epiphany moment and fall for Benny also. ( I know I can’t have it both ways but still….but what a problem to have. right?). I’m sure I’m not the only one who fell in love with Benny. It’s gonna be hard to see him with Addy and not Taylor. But, who wouldn’t love Addy …I can definitely see Benny and Addy together now that you want let Benny pine over his best friend. If I had my way I would of had Benny come out to Taylor and profess his love for him….then they have a attempt at something sexual…… but come to the conclusion they are meant to be best friend forever and don’t want to jeopardize the love they already have for each other.( I could live with that maybe…) See….you have me believing these characters are my friends. That’s great writing! Seriously though will your book has given me the courage to begin living life without reservation. I’m tired of hiding in that “big ass closet”. Although I’m not out yet, I know it’s slowly coming to fruition and I owe that to you. I refuse to live the rest of my life for others and never experience what love can bring. (Sounds sappy huh? Sorry). Thanks again for your book Will. If ever you are in Mississippi (LOL………) I’d love to give you the “grand tour” of Tupelo, Mississippi, the birthplace of Elvis Presley. Better yet, I’d love to take you to an alumni tail-gate party while attending an Ole Miss Football game. There’s nothing like it. HOTTY TODDY!

I hope you know how much your gift of writing has touched us all and how grateful we are for having read them.

My best wishes for your continued success,

Michael

REVIEW:

Danielle: Hey Cin, I am reading ‘Someone to Keep Me’ I was thinking it’s a joint writer effort so how about a joint review?

Cindy: Sounds good to me. Send me a copy, let me read it and I’ll get back to you.

Cindy: I just finished it and it was definitely worth the wait!

Danielle: I tell you, Woman, I was so looking forward to this one. I mean, that combination of authors? That must be the bomb! They sure delivered!

Cindy: They really did. I love this combination of characters and with all the familiar names it was like running into old friends.

Danielle: That I definitely agree on. I mean how can you not love the characters from the other books; Leo and Alex and Thomas and Peter….

Cindy: It was wonderful to get a glimpse into their futures while meeting Scott and Ben.

Danielle: Yeah lets talk Scott and Ben! Gosh what a couple of men! Ben for me so showing he was strong yet vulnerable but so solid and warm .* sigh* Scott’s the opposite but that insecurity? Man that hit me hard I’ll tell you that.

Cindy: Yeah, Scott hit home for me too. He feels so lost and alone at the beginning of the book. I think he sort of represents that part of all of us who’ve never felt good enough.

Danielle: Yes I think that out of the whole book, that part got to me the most, the beginning. That touched me deeply. It’s the opposite from what I think is the more usual feeling for me, more attracted to the content of the story and getting further into it

Cindy: And Ben. He’s a good man who just wants to do the right thing. You can feel that he’s instantly attracted to Scott but pushes it aside because he wants what’s best for the younger man.

Danielle: Yes he’s the opposite of selfish. You can feel that through the whole story. He puts eveyone’s needs before his own.

Prism Book Alliance gives STKM 4 Stars!:

My View

My first glimpse behind the doors of the club Collars & Cuffs was in the story An Unlocked Heart. I enjoyed getting to know the owners and employees of the club and learn about their past heartbreaks and successes.  As each story has progressed the characters have become more familiar, and even though it’s a new couple featured the past characters continue to play integral roles in the books.

Now on the third round we get to meet Scott, an American boy (barely 18) who travels to the UK to meet up with someone he met online. Sound like a bad plan? Well, Scott is amazingly innocent and rather naïve. Lucky for him fate has another plan and he is rescued by Ben Winters at the airport.  The entire Collars & Cuffs crew steps in to help Scott adjust to his plight of being stranded abroad, and soon it’s clear that Scott and Ben are made for each other – even if they don’t know it yet.

One of the things I have liked about all of these stories is that they can be enjoyed by a BDSM novice or veteran reader alike. I think the author(s) do a great job of portraying the lifestyle in a fair and not over-glamorized way. If you know a romance reader who has wanted to try a BDSM story this is a great series to begin with because things are explained well and the characters are very loving and filled with emotion.  I always say I love a good love story when characters do really give away their hearts, and this can be said for all of the Collars & Cuffs books.

Reviews for 500 Miles

I’m stunned. Reviews for 500 Miles are coming in.

Some of the biggest names in m/m literature have rated 500 Miles. I’m honored more than I can say.
I have been fortunate enough to read this prior to release.
I love the way Parker writes. His stories flow seamlessly, and this one is no exception.
And yes, I cried a little at the end.
Not giving anything away, but you’ll really like this one.
MORE please, Parker Williams!

So…when you ask me what I like in a story, the first thing that grabs me is a broken man. Then, you bring in a character who understands him, holds him to his heart and heals him.You had me at hello. This is a beautifully written story. Short, oh-so-sweet, with the right balance of angst and happiness. I do love me a man who knows what he wants and goes after it. Even if it hurts to do so.Parker Williams provided me with an advance reviewer’s copy with the proviso I gave him an honest review. Here’s the best recommendation I can make; I will be buying a copy the day it comes out.Tom

I have a huge soft spot for the wounded character, the one who thinks he’s doing the right thing for everyone, who’s selfless even though what he really needs is to be loved. So this story pushed all my buttons in that regard. I loved Jase. I wanted to beat him, but I understood him. And Mark is fun and gutsy and fights for what he wants. It was fun and hot and I was lucky enough to score the advance copy. Make sure to pick this one up.
